Getting started

Cornerstone began in 2001 with a group of families that wanted to see a solid Bible teaching church focused on teaching God’s Word and discipleship with a passion to impact the culture, not succumb to it. The core group was led by men who had a vision to establish a solid church build on the Bible, discipleship, and evangelism on the South side of Indianapolis. The church had its beginnings as a livingroom Bible study. Initial growth led to meeting in the Greenwood Community Center.

Growing

In 2003, the church grew to the point that the men who were preaching and teaching knew they needed to find a full-time pastor to lead Cornerstone. They sought a man with solid theological training, the ability to teach God’s Word with effectiveness and relevance, ministry experience, a background in discipleship and teaching, and a deep passion to lead a fledgling church. In the Fall of 2003, Mike Gorton became the pastor of Cornerstone Bible Church.
