Leadership/Staff
Mike Gorton, Pastor/Teacher
Mike grew up in Eastern Oklahoma and graduated in a class of 18 in a town so small it didn't even have a stoplight. He played college basketball at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and had aspirations of being a pilot. It was during those years of college that God grew him through a Navigators 2:7 small group, a college ministry called Pilots in Christ, and road trips to Denton, Texas to a Bible Church that would ground him in God's Word and provide a solid model for future ministry.
After graduating with a degree in English, he moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue an aviation career and become involved at what he calls "the church that grew me up in the faith." The church was Denton Bible Church. Under the leadership of Denton Bible's pastor, Tommy Nelson, Mike was able to participate in a discipleship program and mentorship with Nelson that led him to Dallas Theological Seminary and vocational ministry. He served on staff at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship and pastored an established church in East Texas before coming to Indianapolis to do what he'd always dreamed of doing-leading a church plant in the suburbs.
He describes his goals at Cornerstone as "producing a church that is a blend of a solid discipling and teaching ministry that also has a deep passion for evangelism and impact on its community."
Mike and his wife, Robin, have three children, Jakob, Audrey, and Katherine. His passion and strength is teaching God's Word and discipleship. Mike also serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Spina Bifida Association of Central Indiana. In his spare time, you might find him on the summit of a mountain, hiking, training for the mini-marathon on a dare from his little sister, or in the woods, riding his dirt bike. Hopefully, you find him alive and unscathed!
Matt Walker, Pastor of Equipping and Outreach
Matt grew up in Northern Indiana. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He played trumpet in the Purdue Marching, Jazz, and Symphonic Bands. While at Purdue, he was also an active part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and served on the leadership team of Salt & Light Christian Fellowship, the college ministry of Kossuth Street Baptist Church.
Even though Matt was heading for an engineering career, God had other plans for his life. After graduating from Purdue he stayed in Lafayette to work in a Campus Pastor Internship for Kossuth Street Baptist Church. It was through this service and the solid teaching of Kossuth that God changed Matt's heart from pursuing an engineering career to vocational Christian ministry.
He soon made plans to move to "Big D" (Dallas, Texas) to attend Dallas Theological Seminary. He has served on staff in the Equipping Ministry of Northwest Bible Church and also served as the Senior Pastor of a church in rural Iowa before the joining the ministry team of Cornerstone.
Matt is married to Anna who is also a Purdue graduate. They have a son named Grant who we anticipate will also be a future Boilermaker.
Matt's passion in ministry and goal at Cornerstone is to reach the surrounding community with the Gospel of Jesus. He is also a dynamic teacher and communicator of God's word and brings great organizational skills to the ministry of Cornerstone. In his "spare" time he enjoys working outside, serving as a volunteer firefighter, woodworking, and watching Purdue football.

He is a partner in a consulting firm that assists small business development. He is also an IU basketball fan. Glenn and his wife Betheny have three children, Bronte, Hiatt, and Brynn. Besides leading our Music Ministry, Glenn plays piano in a local Jazz band of which Betheny is the lead vocalist. Glenn brings teachability, leadership, and a high commitment to excellence to our ministry at Cornerstone.
Ward Horn, Elder
Ward is an Indianapolis native and local businessman making solid contributions to both his church and community. Although he became a Christian as a child, it was during college that his spiritual growth soared through the ministry of the Navigators. It was during this time that he realized the importance of discipleship and evangelism in the Christian walk.
Ward brings a firm commitment to God’s word, passion for healthy church development, a high level of energy, and a strong, steady persistence to Cornerstone Bible Church. His leadership and influence demonstrate passionate devotion to the Lord and His direction for this ministry.
Ward is married to Kathy. They have four children. They are the proud grandparents of four grandkids. In his spare time Ward loves hunting, exercising, reading, and training his bird dogs for competition.
